* Firstly, I confess, this was the Radio 4 fella’s headline that I mention below.
Credit where it’s due!
Now, you may recall from last year that I am helping Rebecca Dowdeswell in her battle with the cosmetics giant L’Oreal?
Indeed, back in August, Rebecca woke up to find a WhatsApp from a friendly reporter to say:
“Your story is currently the best read piece on the BBC website…NATIONALLY”
Errr…remind me Greg, what is this one about?
It comes down to the world’s biggest cosmetics firm trying to force Rebecca to stop using her brand “nkd” which is a waxing salon with wax related products because they have a brand called NAKED.
Oooooh imagine how “confusing” that must be for the public.
It has got 3 similar letters in it and EVERYTHING!
- Never mind their stuff is eye shadow and Rebecca’s is waxing aftercare.
- Never mind that Rebecca had the brand BEFORE them.
- Never mind that L’Oreal appear to be using every legal move in the book to kick this into the long grass and seemingly attempt to tie Rebecca up in legal tape and costs hoping she would just go away.
NEWSFLASH – she isn’t going away!
In fact, in the last week, Rebecca has been back on the BBC in a podcast with a Radio 4 reporter, is across the BBC here in the East Midlands (radio TV and online) and with the assistance of yours truly here is currently balancing meeting requests and catch-up calls with an ever-growing number of reporters keen to hear her story.
This is about principles, bullying and frankly, rank hypocrisy on L’Oreal’s part, if you care to read their glowing CSR credentials that they proudly flaunt.
You can read more about this and how to help Rebecca, who is one of our Press Pass members, over on her dedicated blog about the case:
“Since 2022, I have been trapped in an unnecessarily protracted and expensive trademark dispute with the world’s largest cosmetics and personal care business which has caused untold damage to my small business.”
Read more here because she’s worth it too!
