I don’t know about you but I’m a sucker for documentaries that follow some sort of lost treasure hunt?
Give me Oak Island over Love Island any day.
There’s just something about being led slowly along the plot, back through time, peeling back the layers of the story and hoping for a big reveal.
By the way – I have NOT finished Oak island so please don’t spoil it!
Anyway, there’s a tale being told in the marketing world that backlinks are the Holy Grail.
Never mind chalices, small earthenware jars or biblical characters redeemed.
I wrote about this recently actually and the perils of chasing reporters for the links or even ONLY doing PR for the backlinks and SEO purposes.

However, when a lovely backlink DOES indeed come along and it is in the NATIONAL media it is definitely worth a celebration!
That’s what happened last week when our newest client, Rachael Hyland who hasn’t even technically STARTED working with us yet appeared in the Independent, talking about tattoo removal.
As well as running a thriving salon up in Wigan (Radiant Living) Rachael is a consultant to the beauty and spa industry and wants our help to position her as an expert in the industry.
Well, timing is everything in PR so when a reporter piped up seeking expert comment on tattoo removal I pitched her within minutes.
Slight problem, Rachael had just landed for her holiday in Abu Dhabi.
She was ideal but would she be able to find the time to jump on this opportunity?
You bet she could!
The result, national coverage AND backlinks to her website. The Holy Grail of PR located – depending on your source material! Now it is all about leveraging the coverage and Rachael’s bona fide expert status in the media.
