My Human Video Got Mistaken for AI

Picture the scene:

I’m feeling quite pleased with myself after filming a new video. No stumbles, no waffle, just me, one take, in the studio.

Then a well-meaning subscriber slides into my inbox.

“Hey Greg, I’ve got a much better lip-sync service than the one you’re using
”

Erm
 excuse me? Lip-sync? Service?

Mate – that was ME. My actual human face. Talking. In real time.

It wasn’t AI. It wasn’t dubbed. It wasn’t a Max Headroom reboot.

It was me. Just apparently too good to be true.

The Perils of Being Polished

Now, my first reaction was mild panic.

Do I look wooden? Robotic? Are people doubting whether my stuff is even real anymore?

And then it hit me – we’ve crossed into a bizarre new era where if you look too slick, people assume you’re fake.

Why Imperfect Is Perfect

Here’s the twist. All those “ums,” “ahs,” and sideways glances we’ve been taught to edit out? They’re now gold dust.

They’re proof you’re actually human.

AI can churn out pristine scripts. But it still can’t quite replicate the pause when you lose your train of thought
or the eye-roll when the dog barks in the middle of your point.

Authenticity is the new premium.

What This Means for You

If you’re creating content – video, podcasts, blogs, whatever – don’t iron out all the humanity.

Keep the stumbles. The little rephrases. The “hold on a sec while I check my notes.”

Because in a world where 90% of content might soon be AI-generated, the fastest way to prove you’re real
 is to show your imperfections.

So, What’s My Fix?

I’ll still keep my on-camera chops polished (journalist habits die hard). But I’ll also sprinkle in those human moments that AI can’t fake.

Next time you see me scratch my head or glance off camera, don’t worry – it’s not a glitch. It’s proof of life.

And if anyone ever offers me another “better lip-sync service”

I might just deliberately fluff a line or two for them. 😉

Greg

Why not check out some of our other videos?

And yes… they are all ACTUALLY me!
