Well this will be interesting to revisit next year….Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg snaffled the Communicator of the Year gong in last night’s PRWeek Awards 2010.
The judges made up of senior PR types praised Clegg for his general election comms campaign that “positioned him as a fresh alternative to the other political parties.”
To quote:
“In fewer than 12 months, Clegg has gone from leading a party frustrated by a lack of media attention to the full glare of the world’s media, as he walked side by side with Prime Minister David Cameron into 10 Downing Street on 11 May.”
PR Week goes on to highlight his stunning performance at the three leaders’ debates which certainly opened up some very jaded eyes and swung the public opinion dramatically.
I wonder what the voters who went for Clegg on the “fresh alternative” ticket make of the message now – some would say they got an alternative Clegg in the end. Time and votes will tell.
